Seven must see places in and around Quebec City

Vieux Quebec (Old Quebec) The Old Quebec town became a UNESCO heritage site in 1985, and there was a good reason for that.

Walking along the narrow cobbled streets, passing the enchanting fairy-tale houses and watching the street actors, you will feel the true atmosphere of a European medieval town. 

To complete this experience, don’t forget to take a ride on one of the horse drawn carriages. Le Chateau Frontenac Built on Cape Diamond (Cap Diamant) high above the Saint Lawrence River during the 19th and 20th centuries, this majestic and romantic architectural complex is renowned as a main Quebec City landmark.

Although it is a hotel, there are organised tours that take you inside the complex. Wall Murals Walking through both the Old town and Lower Quebec, don’t miss the amazing murals, which look extremely life like.

Terrasse Dufferin Leading from Chateau Frontenac to Abraham Plains, Terrace Dufferin offers great views over the city and the Saint Lawrence River. A walk along it is especially breath-taking after dark, when the night-time illumination makes the buildings look yet even more romantic.

Citadelle of Quebec Those with a passion for history will love the 18th century fortress, which is an official residence of the Queen in Right of Canada. If the weather is good, you will even have a chance to see the changing of the royal guards.

Montmorency Falls Park (Parc de la Chute-Montmorency) Take your rental car for a short trip from the city to see the 275 feet (84 metres) high falls. The valley was the filming stage for one of the key scenes in 1947’s movie Whispering City.

Mont-Sainte-Anne This is a beautiful place for outdoor lovers and is just a 30 min drive from Quebec City. You can hike, mountain bike, camp and play golf here during the summer. The winter activities include skiing, ice skating, snowshoeing and even dogsledding. There is lots of entertainment for children as well.
