Granville Island

Renowned for being a paradise for art and theatre students and tourists, Granville Island is referred to as the “King of Vancouver destinations”. It’s the home for numerous artists and artisans, hosting magnificent cultural events throughout the year; if you love theatre and arts, you will find it difficult to choose what to visit first. Parks and Gardens

Capilano Bridge

The famous 136 m (446 ft) long suspension bridge crosses Capilano River at 70 m (230 ft) height, attracting hundreds of thousands visitors every year. If you like wandering between the tops of the ancient fir forest, try also the “Treetops Adventure”.

To get there from Downtown Vancouver, drive through Stanley Park and Lions Gate Bridge and then 1.6 km to the north, on Capilano Road.



Whistler

One of the central venues for the Winter Olympics 2010, Whistler is an outdoors Mecca, hosting skiers and mountain bikers from all around the world, depending on the season. Situated in about 2.5 hour drive away from Vancouver; the best way to get there is to take the Sea to Sky Highway. Note that in winter, the driving conditions can be tough so it’s better if you are confident driving at any weather. However, the scenery and the amazing mountain tracks are well worth taking this drive.



North Shore Mountains

Throughout the year, the mountains located at the North Shore are another place to be for skiers, cyclists, hikers and other outdoor lovers in Vancouver area. The three main hills of the area are Cypress Mountain, Grouse Mountain, and Seymour Mountain, all located within a 30 min drive from Downtown. Grouse Mountain is the most family-friendly of them, especially in winter season with such activities as sleigh riding, ice-skating and many more.
